Products I Love! I Loved My Medela Freestyle Breast Pump

September 6, 2017

“Are you ready?”

When pregnant how many times were you asked if you were ready to have a baby?

Have you asked someone else if they were ready?

What does it mean to be “ready”? I don’t know about you but whether you’re a mother or father, we could never be fully ready. Whether it was your first, second or 5th child you could never have been 100% prepared.

Humans are not robots. No two are alike. And no two could be raised alike.

In my most recent posts I shared my breastfeeding struggles I had with all 4 of my kids.

If you haven’t, check them out!

Over the span of raising 4 newborns I’ve tried 3 different breast pumps.

Having thousands and thousands of baby products available is one reason why we could never be 100% ready.

How do we know what we need? How do we know which brand or which version will be best for my child? This one worked with my 3rd child, why won’t it work with my 4th?

Those are the types of questions that most of us parents have asked ourselves or others.

I’m here to tell you why I loved my Medela Freestyle Breast Pump the best! AND why I loved my Medela Freestyle Breastpump instead of the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump Backpack and the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump On The Go Tote.

PROS:

  • Battery operated and plugin motor option
  • Double pump! Save time by using two at once.
  • Single pump option as well! Breastfeeding and pumping? You could breastfeed then use one pump to pump the other breast if needed.
  • Pump itself is small. Can easily be placed into your favorite bag or purse.
  • Includes a timer. If you plan to be an exclusive pumper like I was for my 4th child, pumping for at least 15 minutes will be crucial. The freestyle has a built in timer!

CONS

  • Price. The Freestyle is the most expensive of the Medela pumps. But if you plan to use it with multiple kids, it’s worth the investment.
  • Suction strength. I have read some reviews saying that the suction strength was weak. The weakness could be due to the incorrect size of the nipple shields.

Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump Back Pack CON

  • Bulky back pack. The back pack was an entire additional bag. There was no option to remove the motor if wanting to use another bag or purse.

Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump On The Go Tote CONS

  • This pump is intended only for moms who plan to pump a few times a day. Although I was only pumping a few times a day, my motor blew out within the first 2 months of my little one being born.
  • The suction was weak. And yes I said prior that it could of been due to the wrong nipple shield size. I tried various sizes but the suction remained the same.

There are so many options of different baby products nowadays. You could spend a lifetime reading reviews of any and every option. The best you could do is to read reviews and decide which may be the best option for you.

My hope was to provide you with info to help you make the best decision possible.
